Description:

From 1910 to 1940, Angel Island was the site of an Immigration Station that functioned like the Ellis Island of the Pacific Coast ushering in immigrants from eighty two countries. In 1970, the site was slated for demolition because of its deteriorated condition; but an alluring discovery saved it and led to renewed interest in the Angel Island Immigration Station. Tour the Museum with some time to look around the island. Field trip includes a bus from the Moscone Center to Pier 41, a ferry across to the island and a shuttle to the museum and return trip.
