The Publications Committee of the Collection Management Section of ALCTS is sponsoring the Sixth Annual Collection Management & Development Research Forum at the 2015 American Library Association Annual Conference in San Francisco.

Tony Greiner will discuss a data-driven weeding project in which he developed a list of common characteristics of uncirculated materials. This work led to recommendations for identifying and avoiding purchasing books that are unlikely to ever be used. Tony is Reference and Instruction librarian at Portland Community College in Oregon. While his professional interest is in collection use, his best stories are about driving the hippo truck when he worked for the circus.

Forrest Link and Bethany Sewell are currently investigating the feasibility of using short-term loans of ebooks as an alternative to traditional interlibrary loan. They will present their findings at the forum. Bethany is the Access Services and Reference Librarian at The College of New Jersey where she oversees the functions of Circulation, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan. Prior to coming to The College of New Jersey, Bethany was the Access Services Librarian at the University of Denver. Bethany received her MLS with a specialization in Art Librarianship from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2006. Forrest is the Acquisitions and World Languages & Cultures Librarian at the College of New Jersey. He received his MLS from Rutgers University-New Brunswick.
