Make your way to ALAPlay for a free evening of open gaming, learning and exploration centered around games, graphic novels and cosplay. Come play some of the newest games in ALA's game library and also be sure join our guests Paizo, Fantasy Flight, and Academy Games. We are also be running an Unpub at ALAPlay this year. Local game designers and librarians will be bringing in their unpublished games for playing and feedback from attendees, with prizes being handed out for the best rated games. If you have a tabletop game design that you would like to bring, share and get feedback on, get in touch with Brian Mayer (bmayer@gvboces.org).

ALCTS 101 is an informal overview of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) Division. Chat with established members about ALCTS sections (cataloging, preservation, continuing resources, etc.), interest groups, navigating Annual, publishing opportunities, professional development, and volunteer opportunities.

Want to get involved? Stick around for the short business meeting of the ALCTS New Members Interest Group (ANMIG) following the event, where you can volunteer to serve as Vice Co-Chair or Student Liaison.

All are welcome—those considering membership with ALCTS, student members, new members, and long-term members wanting a brush-up.

D.I.Y. Tour Through San Francisco's Mission District

Bypass all the touristy things to do in San Francisco and enjoy climate, culture, zines, books, coffee and more in San Francisco's Mission District. The tour, hosted by local archivist and librarian Tess McCarthy, will begin at 4:15 with a calming spot of tea at Samovar Tea Lounge directly across the street from the Moscone Convention Center (730 Howard St), then continue with a trip over to the Mission via public transportation and walking. We'll cover zine shops like Gotblud, browse books at Dog Eared Books, peep into alleys to view colorful world-renowned murals, coffee, chocolate and more in this three-hour tour full of reading, shopping, and gawking. After the tour we'll head over to a dance club called The Make Out Room for a Que(e)ry Library event co-hosted by EveryLibrary with DJ's slammin' music like DJ MARC, drinks and gobs of local area fun with librarians, archivists, curators, zinesters, writers, artists, metadata nerds, techies and information professionals in the Bay Area (bring $10 cash if you'd like to attend the EveryLibrary party).
