Join us for a screening of Martin Scorsese's highly-anticipated latest film, The 50 Year Argument an "incisive portrait of a vanguard cultural institution" (Variety). Scorsese and longtime documentary collaborator David Tedeschi ride the waves of literary, political, and cultural history as charted by the influential publication, The New York Review of Books, America’s leading journal of ideas for over 50 years. Told through Scorsese's inimitable and energetic documentary style, this provocative film explores the power of ideas in shaping history. The film weaves rarely seen archival footage of cultural icons, newly filmed interviews with many of the Review’s current contributors with original footage reflecting the humming, restless energy of the paper's brilliant and charismatic editor Robert Silvers at work in the Review’s West Village offices.The film will be followed by a Q+A with one of the celebrated journalists who is featured in the documentary.

Join Megan Dowd Lambert to discuss The Whole Book Approach, an interactive way to get children talking about picture books and what they hear and see during storytime. Developed by Megan while at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, this tried and tested method focuses on the picture book as a visual art form and invites kids to become active participants during shared reading. Join Megan and author/illustrator David Hyde Costello to share anecdotes, learn tips and gain access to road-tested techniques to get kids thinking with their ears and their eyes.
