Pride Week in San Francisco
Although celebrations will be taking place all month, the main San Francisco Pride celebrations are scheduled for June 27 and 28, 2015. There will be many related activities for ALA attendees to participate in, but there will also be potential disruptions to ALA’s schedule. With that in mind, ALA has been working with the San Francisco Travel, the convention bureau, City of San Francisco Police Department, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and our local committee headed up by staff at the San Francisco Public Library.
We anticipate that the city will be very busy and have reduced the number of properties needed to hold meetings. In addition to the three buildings of the Moscone Convention Center, only 6 other hotel properties will be used for meetings.
The Pride Parade will be held on Sunday, June 28 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Many streets will be closed at times during the day. ALA has reduced the number of shuttle bus routes and will increase the number of buses on each route. Be sure to plan extra travel time in your schedule whether riding a bus or walking.
Special activities will also be scheduled in the exhibit hall throughout the day on Sunday. Kicking off “Show Your Pride in the Exhibits” will be a free continental breakfast in the exhibits from 9:30 am – 10:30 am. Exhibitors will provide special give-aways, authors and promotions. The exhibits will close at 4:00 pm on Sunday to help relieve outbound shuttle traffic from the convention center.
More information will be added here and shared in other channels as it becomes available, so please check back. For more information on San Francisco Pride celebrations, visit http://www.sfpride.org/
