OCLC Dewey Update Breakfast and ALCTS Public Libraries Technical Services Interest Group Meeting Exhibitor session Marriott Marquis San Francisco
Yerba Buena Salon 01-03
Description :

Learn what's new with Dewey and WebDewey 2.0, and share ideas and notes with our ALCTS Public Libraries Technical Services Interest Group colleagues during this combined meeting.

ALCTS Public Libraries Technical Services Interest Group will cover two topics:

1) Are public libraries using BISAC?—Michele Zwierski, Nassau County Public Library System, has canvassed other public libraries to find out how they are organizing their library collections. She will discuss the pros and cons of organizing according to BISAC.

2) The Revised Library of Congress CIP Data Block—Caroline Saccucci, Library of Congress, will discuss the revised layout of the CIP data block, which is the information printed on the title page verso of thousands of books cataloged by LC at the pre-publication stage. This completely updated layout includes new information such as BISAC headings and genre/form terms, labels for data elements, combines print and electronic data elements into one CIP Data Block, and includes URL Permalink to the MARC record. The new data block will be implemented after ALA Annual.
