Fixit Clinic (www.fixitclinic.org) is a hands-on activity in disassembly, troubleshooting, and, (hopefully,) repair of broken household items. It's a natural fit for libraries, and we've held numerous successful events in libraries around the U.S.. We’ll cover:

- Scheduling the event and infrastructure necessary
- Recruiting volunteer "Fixit Coaches"
- Effective outreach and event promotion
- Supporting and sustaining ongoing Fixit Clinics
- Library-specific tricks and tips
- We'll do live demonstrations of disassembly, troubleshooting of some common household items

Brian Mayer, Gaming and Library Technology Specialist at the School Library System of the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership published a game, Freedom: The Underground Railroad, last year and will be talking about the process of creating an educational game for commercial purposes and its application and use in education as well as its impact. Open source software can deliver all that, controlling cost and funding improvements that will make a difference for your users, while safeguarding investments in automation and providing a more stable future. A panel will present the administrators' view, how and why they decided to adopt it, and how using open source systems has changed their libraries for the better. The open source library solutions of today have grown up a lot in the past few years and the administrators will tell you how. Panelists include:
